Fort Bandanwara: A Heritage Hotel
Bandanwara is an erstwhile estate of Jodha Rathore Clan, Descendents of the jodhpur royal family. The founder was the grandson of Raja Chandrasen Ji of Jodhpur. Rao Surajmal 1st became the first ruler of bandanwara in 1669 and since then, his thirteen generations have ruled the estate till today. The rear structure of the present fort came into being during the rule of Rao Surajmal 2nd until his great grandson Rao Ranjit Singh’s rule. The present fort with its more than a hundred rooms and two football grounds inside the fort, with stables and garages for the modern mode of transport shows how the lifestyle of the rulers kept changing from time to time. The old janana portion of the fort and the kutchery with diwan sahib ki haveli, prove that bandanwara has come a long way. The condition of the fort as of today shows that how the rulers kept it in shape by making necessary changes according to their need and luxuries, from time to time.
